Some of our favourite products at Twang & Pearl are Salt Spring Island Candle Co’s soy candles. Founders Jay and Mishka are also two of our favourite people! Their candles are so deliciously-scented, we asked them to craft a signature scent for us - and we LOVE it! At this time of year we also love to burn Sitka and Hearth (together! So good!).

Salt Spring Island Candle Co - Family, Craftsmanship and Lots of Love

The story of Salt Spring Island Candle Co is one of a truly creative island family. Jay’s dad was a candle maker who began his business back in Toronto in 1977. Following in his creative and entrepreneurial footsteps, business and life partners Jay and Mishka began their own candle making business. They moved with their family to the West Coast in the 1990s. They found so much inspiration in their new island home and all the talented local craftspeople, that they reinvented their business once more creating new branding, themes and scents. Looking for clean alternatives to the old-style materials used in candle making, they moved to a soy-based product. 

“We like to approach our candles from a perfumer’s perspective, carefully layering our creations with a balance of top, middle and base notes. All our candles are made with the highest source of ingredients and we're proud to offer a premium line made with only pure essential oils. Hand-poured in small batches, we understand the importance of clean-burning candles for you and your family.”

With their amazing spirit and energy that infuses everything they do, it’s not surprising that Jay and Mishka’s business become an island success story!  We are so pleased to stock their candles at Twang and Pearl. And collaborating with them on our own signature scent was a Twangy highlight and a dream come true. We LOVE IT - It's like the inside of southern oaken sultry whiskey room mixed with an outdoor summer cocktail party. It's the best of summer and fall combined - a little bit country, a little bit cocktail party - just like our personality.
